First Things...

It's all well and good to pick a book to read, but how are we going to run this show?

Are we going to get more people involved? Michael, Robyn, Steve, and Megan never replied to the blogger invitations, and I wasn't sure if anyone else was going to be interested. Oh, and I propose a group vote for any new members, so we can be exclusive and catty.

Are we all going to read the book-of-the-undetermined-amount-of-time and then post responses? Or are we going to discuss as we go? How soon can people get The Prophet read, if that's the book we're going for at the moment? Or, will this be a more informal "read what you want, when you want, and post about whatever you happen to be reading" sort of thing? That could work too, though conversation may be somewhat hampered. And then it's not so much a "book club blog" as...a blog about books. Without the club!

Also: seriously. Suggest some more books for later. I need time to find them at Half Price, because I am putting myself on a strict book budget after the $100+ book buying extravaganza that was Christmas Break.

Yes, this is Jen being a rule-focused downer. I'm sorry. I require structure. Surely you've noticed by now.

First: I like being exclusive and catty. Let's vote for new members...oh!! We should come up with an application in all of our abounding free time. As far as though who didn't reply...well, I can talk to Meg and Robyn seeing that I talk to each of them almost everyday. They just might not have seen it, and/or didn't bother to check out what this is all about.

Second: I agree with Jen. Some structure is good which is difficult for me to say. I think we should try to get books read by a certain time, but also discuss the book as we go along. I also like the idea of all of us reading the same book at the same time while coming up for future reading selections. As far as setting time lines and deadlines, I'm terrible at that, but whoever does set that up needs to keep in mind that life can get very busy for all of us very easily.

Also...is there anyway that we can turn on notifications that someone has posted a blog? Unless we compulsively check the blog, I'm not sure how we will ever know...

Worse comes to worse, we could all add this as a blog feed on Facebook since we already obsessively check that.

Is that all??

Hmm. I have it set so that it e-mails me whenever I post (and probably whenever everyone else posts, too). It doesn't look like we can change it to let everyone be emailed this way. There are site feed options, so we probably could put it on facebook or some other 3rd party rss provider. I don't know that I would use facebook feeds, as it looks like those are published as notes and I don't particularly want to flood everyone with our ruminations on literature.

Whoa, I just noticed these comments after making my post. Fortunately, it appears mostly nothing in them changes what I would have said.
